Saints vs Vikings Game

This week has been such a busy and crazy week that I am just now getting around to posting about the Saints vs Vikings football game. We had a little get-together with our neighbors to watch the game. We had a pretty good mix of both Saints fans and Vikings fans. Everyone kept asking me who I was for.......I guess I was kinda neutral. I have always been a Saints fan but I love Brett Favre and could never pull against him. My friend Jan, is first cousins with Brett so she came all dolled up in her Vikings boa! I have to admit though, it is gonna be a pretty exciting Super Bowl!! Especially around South Mississppi since we are so close to New Orleans and there are tons of Saints fans around here!

Katie Turns NINE Years Old!!

January 28th, 2001 Katherine Brianne Logan was born. My only baby girl is growing up so fast! We are celebrating this weekend when my sister and nieces come to visit. Last night for her actual birthday we just cooked her favorite meal and got her a cookie cake. She wanted ribs, turnip greens and cowboy beans (pork n beans)! She is definitely a "country girl" at heart! She also wanted a cookie cake. They only had a "Go Saints" cookie cake which was actually pretty appreciate considering Katie was born on Super Bowl Sunday. Luckily she was born in the morning before the game started, or her daddy might not have made it to the birth!LOL He loves his football!

The poor baby was so excited about her birthday that she couldn't sit still. She kept getting hurt from flopping around so much. She fell out of her chair and nearly broke her wrist. I almost never got her to calm down. I finally ended up wrapping it in some fabric scraps so it would "look" like a bandage. She wore it to school today so I am sure her whole school will be hearing about her "broken" wrist!

I HATE CANCER!

Cancer has touch my life in such a vile way. It has affected so many people that I love. My mom's oldest sister, Priscilla died at the age of 13. My mom's twin brother Paul, (Melissa's dad) died at 28. My mamaw and papaw both died from it. And the list just goes on from there....... Yesterday I found out that Melissa's fiance', Kevin Haymon's dad has cancer. Poor Melissa and Kevin, cancer has run them through the ringer lately. First, Kevin's best friend Paul getting colon cancer, then Gina getting it and dying only one month later. Now this.........life is just not fair sometimes. And no two people deserve to be happy more than Kevin and Melissa.....I'll give you an example.....
Melissa and Kevin got engaged right around Christmas time. I was ecstatic. I am so happy for Melissa and so proud she has found happiness. Kevin is such a great guy, I love him and welcome him into our family with open arms. On the night that they got engaged Melissa called me so excited, panting and out of breath.......I thought something was wrong......nearly scared me to death!LOL They had gone out to eat to celebrate. They went to a place where they frequent a lot and they knew the waitress. She told them how she finally had gotten custody of her kids but that her ex had destroyed all their clothes and her poor babies had nothing to wear. Now this is the kind of people Melissa and Kevin are........when the waitress walks away, Melissa tells Kevin not to get mad at her, but that she is about to do something.....even though she knows she knows she is not financially fit...but that she just felt she had to do it......as she pulls out a 100 dollar bill and sits it on the table.......Kevin says "Oh I'm not mad, as a matter of fact, I'll match your 100 dollar bill"! So they both gave that waitress 100 dollars so that she could buy her babies some clothes! They will probably both kill me for telling this story, but I don't care. My heart hurts so bad for them, I just wanted everyone to know what good people they are and it is just not fair........If anyone deserves to go the rest of their lifetime without heartache and pain.......it is them! I am praying for Kevin's dad.......

Bren's Basketball Game!

Bren Bren had his first game last night! They won 24-11. Bren played an awesome game.....he was a little hustler!! He must have got that from his mamaw (my mom) who was a basketball All Star. I know he didn't get it from me....cause we all know I don't have an athletic bone in my body!LOL Brian coaches the team. Honestly, Bren probably got it from Brian.....basketball has always been his favorite sport. He played high school basketball at St Stanislaus and they were really good. They even won the State Championship. So basketball has been keeping Brian and Bren pretty busy lately. We enjoyed watching the game.......Bren's little teammates are so much fun to watch. They have a good little team going on!:-)

My little sweet Bren Bren. He's been such a joy to raise. It's funny how when you become a mother, your heart swells and you love each and every one the same.......not one more than the other. But sometimes one kid can be "easier" than the other. I must say that Bren Bren has by far been my "easiest" child. He is the most laid back of the four.....obeys me the most of the time....and the ONLY one my kids that folds their socks over when they take them off. Of course he's not perfect but nobody is.........but he is pretty close;-) My other 3 act too much like me.......and I know I can get on people's nerves sometimes so imagine that times 3!! LOLBren is the only child we actually "planned". As we all know, I am never one to plan anything. I am a "fly by the seat of my pants" kinda gal.....that's just the way I roll.....but we tried and tried to get pregnant with Bren Bren. After a miscarriage and a year of infertility.....we finally got pregnant! Oh what a wonderful day....I'll never forget when I found out...we were on our way to Alabama to an Ole Miss vs. Alabama football game. I was so scared I could hardly contain myself.....I didn't want to climb the stands or anything. Then the doctor discovers that my hormone level wasn't high enough, so he perscribed me hormone supplements 3 times a day and oh how they made me so sick......but it was a small price to pay for such a miracle. He was only 5lbs 15 1/2 oz when he was born but boy was he mighty! With a head full of black hair sticking straight up! It didn't take long to fatten him up though. And then on his 1st birthday I found out I was pregnant with Katie!LOL Told you I never plan for anything.......it never works out the way I plan anyway......It took us years to get pregnant when we were trying, but no time when we weren't trying!~:-) But it always works out for the best......and I wouldn't have it any other way! I am truly blessed with all my little chickens!:-) I absolutely love being the "mama hen" too!

And that's my story on my Brendan. I will get to all of them eventually. One day they can look back at this and show it to their kids. That is mainly the reason I even started this blog.......well that and the fact that I can blackmail Brady one day!!haha Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!!

Am I Living A Sitcom??

It's no secrete that every single time I leave the house something always happens.....never does anything ever go smoothly or as planned. My friends make fun of me and say that I never leave the house, but they know that every time I do leave it.....some kind of "event" is gonna happen. Seriously, I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried!LOL Friday didn't let me down in the eventful category.
Brian and I had a meeting with Katie's teacher Friday at 12:20. He was supposed to pick Brady up from school @ 12 and swing by and pick me. Bren stayed home from school because he threw up the night before. I was freaking out thinking he had gotten my bug, but I think he just ate too much. He only missed a half day though, since the kids were getting out early for the parent/teacher conference. Katie was to walk over to Gram's with my niece Morgan and Brian and I would pick her up after the meeting. Ok......let's see.....what goes wrong first??? Oh, Katie calls me from the church rectory, her and Morgan are fighting and Morgan wouldn't let her use the phone....so she puts SISTER JACKIE on the phone with me!! I was like....um please tell her to go to Grams NOW and I will be over to get her ASAP! Gram wasn't home so they were fighting and I'm sure I looked like Mother of the Year to Sister Jackie! At 12:00 Brian calls me and tells me he is so sorry but that he has had something come up and can't leave work!!! Brady gets out at 12???!!! I panic and rush out the door to go pick him up.....I am on E on gas......my car is putting out.....it goes dead at least 5 times on my way....... I had no choice but to stop and get gas before picking up Brady or I wouldn't have made it. Finally I rush in the preschool doors at 12:15......of course the other kids are already napping and he is sitting in the dark with his teacher........I apologized to Ms Michelle and tried to quickly explain my dilemma and how late I was running for Katie's appointment....she said it was fine and not to worry about it.....but she needed me to sigh something right quick.....just saying that I declined a parent/teacher meeting, they had to have it in the file......unless I wanted to have a teacher meeting......I said not unless you feel there is a need for one.....is Brady doing ok? She said oh yes, he is fine, no problems......oh wait....except for one little thing.....today Brady walked around doing this (as she made the sign of the "bird") to everyone.....I had to take him aside and explain to him that that wasn't nice....but that he didn't know what it meant! I was like......"WHAT??" "Please understand he has older brothers and they think it is funny to make him do stuff like that!!" How embarrassing is that????? I wanted to crawl up under a table!! Another Mother of the Year award! I have never even seen him do that before but I know one thing.....I know it came from the older kids and they are the ones that are gonna get it!

So after that nice little chat with Brady's teacher I finally make it to Katie's school. Her's actually wasn't so bad . Afterwards, we headed to Stanislaus to pick up Patrick and Cody who were getting out early too. Quite an eventful afternoon....I swear I am living a TV sitcom or something....really if I didn't think I'd get arrested, I'd do a reality TV show!LOL I have to be the only mom in the world that can be scolding her kids one moment and break out in song in the next.....when we all got home from out excursions yesterday, of course everybody was starving....I was making them hot dogs.....everyone screaming at each other and fighting......I told Katie to "hush girl" and then we all stop, look at each other and laugh and start singing that "shush girl, shut your lips, do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips!" Good lord, my kids are gonna need therapy one day!!LOL God love em........

Oh Happy Day!

Happy Friday Everybody! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I am feeling so much better....I feel like I have a new lease on life!!! I feel like Dorothy back in Kansas or Jimmy Stewart when he realizes It's A Wonderful Life!! Seriously, not to sound too overly dramatic......but I really did feel like I was dying and I am now so appreciative of "Feeling Good"! Wow how I take for granted my good health everyday.......I vow right now to never complain again.......ok.......I guess I won't go that far but I do vow to try to be more thankful everyday and remember how lucking I am:-) and feel free to remind me of this the next time I am complaining that the kids don't mind, the laundry ain't done, my back hurts..........I may not be rich, glamorous or beautiful......but by gosh I have my health and that makes me the most thankful person in the world!:-)

My Bren Bren has his first basketball game tonight so I'll post pictures tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Brian is the coach and they are the St. Vincent Knights 2. GO KNIGHTS!!

Brady's Birthday Party

Sorry I haven't posted in a while but The ManiacMommy has been down for the count! I got a really bad stomach virus and have been out of commish for almost a week. I'm finally getting back to normal but I have a lot of backed up work to do......I figured I better get my blogging done first thing this morning so everybody will know I am still alive and kicking........just a little skinnier now!haha I do plan on enjoying my newfound thinness by making Brian take me on a date this weekend so I can wear some of my skinny minny clothes.......I know they will prob only fit for about a week!haha (if that long) I still have all my Christmas decorations up, I'm embarrassed to admit......but honestly it is not my fault since I could barely lift my head from the pillow! I just pray my kids don't get it......but if they do, I thank GOD that I am well and will be able to take care of them. Bless their hearts.....they have really had to fend for themselves most of the week.
Sunday afternoon I was supposed to help my nephew Cody work on a science project. I wasn't much help though......my B-I-L kept picking on me saying that I had the "Irish Flu"!!LOL I wish it would have been the "Irish Flu" but it was more like the "Al Qaeda Flu"!
Brady's impromptu birthday party turned out great. Sometimes the last minute, least planned events turn out to be the best. He was happy and said he had a very Happy Birthday. It literally was a last minute party but was one of the least stressful ones I have ever given. Plus everybody was in and out within an hour!
Just look at that precious, happy face! He keeps saying "I'm big now!! I'm 5 years old!!"
